Our Projects - Start to Finish
Occasionally we like to document our efforts and show you, step by step, what goes into the restoration process. Below is a sampling of projects that we've photographed throughout the restoration and explained what's done as each piece is brought back to life.
This is a Victorian era walnut hall tree with a white marble shelf, mirror and umbrella holders. This piece had been painted at one point and then badly stripped and soft of repaired. The pedimont was off, one of the umbrella loops was broken off and all of the pegs were loose or broken off. Several really bad repairs had been done to the base over the years and they would have to be undone and correctly replaced.
This client had constructed a gun vault in his basement to store his antique firearms collection. It's essentially a concrete box with a bank vault door. The room was lined and built out with tongue and groove pine paneling and cabinets. The room was finished using a penetrating aniline dye for stain and a hand rubbed shellac finish.
This is an ornate late 19th Century Oak side by side bookcase and drop front secretary. The unit has a decorative pediment with mirror and three drawer storage unit. The finish was ruined, there were structural issues, missing decorative elements and missing and damaged veneer.
